A minimum of 16 people lost their lives and more than 40 were hurt when gunmen fired on a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local authorities have called a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, authorities have stated the death toll is 16, which includes one of the suspected gunmen. Additionally, 42 injured people were transported to hospital.
Those who died have not yet been publicly named, but authorities state their ages are between 10 and 87 years of age.

Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Known as a father of five children, he worked as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and friends remembered him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very kind and sociable person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member asked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She told the events before the shooting, saying they had been standing together when the shooting started. “He moved to protect me because he wished to be near me,” she stated.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having endured unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
The French foreign ministry have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
In a statement, a senior official declared that France mourned with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a fresh and tragic example of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message read.
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, according to police reports.
A national of Israel was also killed during the attack, according to reports referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, many are still receiving treatment, with several in a critical state. The injured comprise two officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Called a hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. It has been reported he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He said he felt it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the attack. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I was hit. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
