Recent details have emerged about the untimely passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held without bail.
The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Additionally disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
