Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”
