The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced recently that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that character reimagined as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the original manga and animated series.

The new cast member joins multiple recently announced actors who will portray Baroque Works to life, featuring head Sir Crocodile, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Although this character is a important part of Baroque Works, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a significant shift in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
